Our history, our future, and the people who make it all possible.
Founded in 2004 by three high school students, Camp PALS began as a small camp of 16 campers and counselors. The concept was simple - changing perspectives through relationships built on shared experiences. As Camp PALS has grown, so has the passion within each of our community members. Volunteers have stepped forward, building new programs in new areas to meet our growing need. The summer of 2016 will be our 13th, with ten programs across the country bringing together over 700 campers and counselors. Beyond our camps, we create year-round opportunities for our alumni to get together through PALS Adventures and continue to connect with the Down syndrome community through the Congratulations Project.
Mission & Values
Our mission is to create immersive experiences where individuals with Down syndrome and their peers have fun, grow as individuals, and build transformative friendships.
PALS fosters close connections and a sense of belonging, built around quality, accepting and caring people. Together, we create the best place on earth and a family away from home. We are welcoming, genuine, passionate, supportive and fun.
Our executive board works protect, strengthen, build and sustain PALS as an organization. We meet on a quarterly basis and have committees in the categories of Finance, Program Development, Resource Development and Branding & Communications.
