#PALSleaders Series | Tori Cedar

We’re continuing a series we kept on our tumblr where we get to know some of the amazing PALS Leaders, like Tori.

What made you want to become a leader in the PALS community?

From my very first PALS, I knew I wanted to make this a part of my life. To me, there was no better way to do that than take on leadership roles that allowed me to spread that kind of genuine love and inclusion to the best of my ability. I had the most incredible PALS Leaders to look up to, who showed me how important and special it is to take on this role to continue the magic we create at PALS. It’s been an absolute blast and I can’t thank those individuals enough for helping me be in this position today.

How have you grown as a person through your PALS leadership experience?

It’s difficult to find the right words to explain how I’ve grown as a person through my PALS leadership experience. It has 100% changed my life and skyrocketed my passion and dedication to a lifestyle of acceptance and love. I’ve grown in my skills of planning, work ethic, and tackling whatever comes my way. I’ve learned that there is no better team/family than the one I’ve found in PALS. It’s what helped decide my dream of getting a doctorate in School Psychology and dedicate my life to that same PALS mentality for years to come.

What legacy do you want to leave with PALS as a leader?

At the summit when we were speaking about being “agents of inclusion” -  it struck some kind of cord that really resonated with me. We are only doing a fraction of our job if our work ends the last day of PALS. It has to be an active, 24/7, 365 days a year commitment to spread and educate the rest of our society. The world would be a lot better place if it was a PALS world. I understand that’s not realistic, but I think the kind of legacy I want to leave behind is the kind that spreads the act of being an “agent of inclusion” to as many people as I possibly can.
