Over the past few months, the PALS Executive Board has been looking to grow and add diversity to our team. We are excited to introduce the four newest Executive Board members to join our PALS family!
Antoine Yver (MDMSc) comes to Camp PALS with a diverse experience to draw from: with Gaud, his wife of 30 years, they have 10 children (and three grand daughters), of whom the younger four, now aged 3 to 17, were adopted as infants and have Down syndrome. Two are regulars at Camp PALS Philadelphia. Amongst others, three were counselors, and one, Clotilde, is now founder and camp director for Chicago. A pediatrician and cancer doctor by training and experience, Antoine now leads oncology development for a major pharmaceutical company, giving him some insights into business savviness as well as ethical and meaningful work aiming at improving people’s lives.
Soeren Palumbo is serving the PALS Executive Board as our corporate secretary. In addition to being a counselor in the PALS family for over five years, Soeren also co-founded Spread the Word to End the Word, a campaign to raise awareness about the hurtfulness of the “R-word”. He is currently a JD/MBA student at the University of Pennsylvania.
Meredith Vieira is an Emmy award-winning journalist and television personality, best known for her work on Today, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire and The View. In fall of 2014, she will launch her own syndicated daytime talk show on NBC. She lives in Westchester with her husband, author and journalist Richard M. Cohen, and three children, Ben, Gabe (a previous Camp PALS counselor) and Lily.
Samantha Cousins is a self-advocate from Stratham, New Hampshire who has been a camper at Camp PALS for four years. She likes to keep busy by swimming on a swim team, playing guitar and listening to music. She likes to hang out with her family and friends, especially her sister and father. She is so proud and happy to be on the Executive Board of Camp PALS.
Our full board (including returning members Jason Toff, Jenni Newbury Ross, Jess Trief, Timbo Shriver & Brandon Glyck) met this past weekend to review our expansion, explore fundraising opportunities and plan for the next steps in our growth.
As we celebrate our 10th anniversary this summer, we will work hard to support our directors and other PALS leaders as they make PALS the best place in the world!
