Here’s the next installment in our Siblings series. This week’s post is written by Philadelphia Counselor and Adventure Leader, Chris Rahill:
“For my family and me, Down syndrome awareness means celebration. It’s the celebration of the lives of wonderful, happy people all over the world who just happen to be a little bit different.
My sister Gianna was born with Down syndrome almost ten years ago, and it changed my life forever. She makes me smile when no one else can. She has taught me more about life and about myself that I could have ever dreamed of. I wouldn’t be the person I am today without her in my life and I couldn’t be more thankful for that.
People with Down syndrome have something special that you just can’t find anywhere else. They bring a special joy to every person they meet. God blessed my family with Gianna and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I couldn’t be more proud to call her my little sister!”
