Just because Down Syndrome Awareness Month is coming to an end, doesn’t mean we stop celebrating our community! This month we will be showcasing PALS counselors who have siblings with Down syndrome. Today we hear from PALS Director Hannah Cunliffe:
“My sister Maggie has been an integral part of my life for the past 21 years. I am proud to call her my sister. I can honestly tell you that Maggie is, and always will be, the person in my life that I admire, look up to, and aspire to be. She is not only my sister, she is also my best friend. She unwittingly brings out the best in people. She has the ability to reach out and not worry about who is judging her or what people are thinking of her. She just loves. I envy the life she leads. I can tell you that Maggie has never been jealous of anyone and she has not one bone of hate in her body. She will probably never have those feelings towards anyone and to live life that purely is incredible.
Maggie has shaped me into the person that I am today and I cannot imagine my life without her. The lessons she has taught me, and the things I have learned from her are endless. She has not only taught me patience and kindness, but she has taught me to always follow my heart.”
