This week we feature PALS counselor Ryan Joye and his twin sister (and PALS camper!), Natalie:
“My twin sister Natalie has been the most influential person in my life since we were both born 18 years ago. She is one of the biggest “joys” in my life. Growing up alongside of Natalie has been an experience that I would not trade for anything in the world. She has taught me to be appreciative of the differences in others and to always see the bright side in things. Her kindness and compassion for others inspires me to try to be the best person I can be everyday.
I believe that Down syndrome Awareness means celebrating and appreciating the amazing people in our lives who have Down syndrome. I think that Down syndrome Awareness is important because it can demonstrate to others, who may not have the experience of knowing someone with Down syndrome, how awesome it can be to form a relationship with an individual who has Down syndrome.”
