Dear PALS Family,
Over the past nine years, Camp PALS has grown from a small program for 16 campers led by high school students, to a community of over 275 campers and counselors who return year after year to a place that we can call our own.
During the past few years, the Executive Board has been designing a vision for how Camp PALS will continue to grow and serve the Down syndrome community. Earlier this year we launched a pilot program, PALS Tours, inviting alumni to return and explore a new city while building life skills and allowing us to test the PALS model in different places around the country.
As we approach 2012, we are excited to share with you that the Executive Board is moving forward with the goal of running several programs held throughout the year in multiple locations around the country. We are building a strategic plan and we hope that by 2016 we may have as many as 8-10 programs held throughout the US.
With that in mind, we are excited to announce that we will hold four PALS programs this year: Camp PALS East
, held in Pennsylvania; Camp PALS West
, held in San Francisco; and two PALS Tours
programs, both held in Washington, DC. Moving forward, we are looking towards re-branding as we become not just Camp PALS but a variety of PALS programs. We encourage you to visit PALSprograms.org
