Director Series: Camp PALS Princeton

Introducing, our Princeton Directors- Steven, Whitney, and David.

Steven: Hi everyone! I’m Steven, a 2nd year director with Camp PALS Princeton. I currently live in Philadelphia, but I’m constantly traveling for my work as a consultant. I’m a 2013 Princeton grad and a lifelong PALS enthusiast, so I cannot wait until this summer for, once again, the perfect combination of both. I’m most looking forward to a week completely dedicated to fun, new friendships and growth…and, of course, a bit of karaoke. Whitney, David and I are pumped to meet and reconnect with you all. See you soon!

Whitney: Hey PALS peeps! My name is Whitney Flora and this will be my 7th summer with PALS. This will be my 3rd summer as a director at Camp PALS Princeton and I cannot put into words how excited I am. PALS has given me so much in the last 7 years. The people I have met here have taught me that I can do anything I put my mind to, that singing karaoke will fix any problem, and to approach every situation with compassion and kindness. My life has been shaped by the influence of this incredible organization and the inspiring people I’ve met along the way. I can’t wait to see what Princeton holds for us this summer. I can already tell it’s going to be the best year yet!

David: “Hey everybody! I’m David Sabia and this summer will mark six years since my brother Steve, a 8th-year camper, introduced me into the PALS family! I’m ecstatic that I have the opportunity to spend my second year as a director with my amazing co-directors at PALS Princeton. I currently live in Olney, Maryland, where I work as a 4th grade teacher in the Montgomery County Public School system. The thing I’m most excited about this summer is continuing to step outside my comfort zone…whether that is meeting a new friend, judging the most hotly contested edition of Top Chef yet, or adding that one extra topping at Fruity Yogurt. Can’t wait to meet all the counselors and campers for what will surely be one of the best weeks of the year!”

PALS Princeton - Olympics and Semi-Formal!

PALS wrapped up a great week with the two most anticipated activities on Friday: Olympics and the Semi-Formal. Olympic teams were comprised of campers, counselors, and special guests from Princeton Disabilities Awareness (PDA). After Olympics, campers headed back to campus for the Congratulations Project. Once campers finished writing their letters, they prepared for the semi-formal.

The semi-formal was held on an outdoor patio with decorations, under awnings and colored lighting. PALS danced the night away as the sun set – a truly wonderful way to end the week.

PALS Princeton - Casino Royale!

PALS kicked off Thursday morning with a healthy eating seminar, followed by a Top Chef competition using healthy ingredients. After lunch, campers chose among three activities for the afternoon: 1) volleyball; 2) the art museum; and 3) canoeing. Campers and counselors also spent time before dinner at the pool.

After dinner, PALS hosted casino night with the help of Archetype Consulting. PALS were treated to a night of games and drinks, with the winner of the casino games receiving the first ever PALS Princeton Casino Night trophy.

More fun pictures of Thursday’s activities can be found on PALS’ Facebook page!

PALS Princeton - Let's Go To The Beach!

PALS Princeton spent Tuesday morning and afternoon at one of the campers and counselors favorite places – the beach! Campers and counselors started the day off on surreys before heading to the sand and the water for some sun and swimming. At night PALS participated in karaoke, another favorite camp activity.

PALS Princeton - Monday Fun

Campers and counselors had a fun and active start to the week at PALS Princeton. After warming up in the morning with yoga and icebreakers, PALS headed out to Princeton for a private movie screening with popcorn and sodas. PALS stayed on campus to play kickball and go swimming, then had dinner out on the town. A scavenger hunt around the university wrapped up the night.

Camp PALS Princeton Has Started!

The day everyone has been waiting for has finally arrived! PALS Princeton kicked off the last camp of the season in style, with campers showing off their sports and dance skills in front of beautiful Forbes College in Princeton University.

Counselors could not be more excited that camp has officially started. Check out more photos on Facebook, and stay tuned for updates during the week!
