Wrapping up PALS Princeton 2013

It was hard to keep a dry eye at PALS Princeton during speeches and the closing ceremony on Saturday morning as campers and counselors reflected on our week at PALS. From returning activities such as beach day, olympics and the semi-formal, to new activities including the scavenger hunt, laser tag and rock climbing, we truly had the best time ever and wished we could stay longer. True to the Camp PALS theme song, the week was full of smiles, laughter and lifelong friendships – the end of the week only marks the countdown to next year!

With only 23 campers and counselors, PALS Princeton was one of the smaller groups of PALS this summer. Both counselors and parents alike remarked on how successful the smaller size of PALS was, and we welcome any additional feedback as PALS continues to grow in the future.

As a final sign-off from PALS Princeton 2013, here are some shots of the Olympics and semi-formal on Friday. Like us on Facebook at facebook.com/palsprograms for more photos and videos from PALS programs throughout the summer.

PALS go on a scavenger hunt and karaoke

PALS Princeton kicked off the third day of camp with a scavenger hunt around the campus and scenic downtown. Some of the tasks campers were asked to complete included finding a building built before 1900, taking a picture with the Princeton lion, and taking a picture of the team spelling out CAMP PALS. The day ended with an activity campers and counselors alike had been looking forward to since the beginning of camp - karaoke!

Here are a few great shots from the day and night, but be sure to check out the Facebook page and the “PALS Princeton 2013 - Scavenging & Singing” album for more photos and videos!

PALS Princeton takes the beach by storm

After a rainy start to PALS Princeton, campers and counselors were able to enjoy beautiful weather at Ocean City, NJ. The day included surreys and bike rides along the boardwalk, giant pizzas, arcade games and having fun in the water. For the first time in PALS history, campers and counselors were treated out to a family-style dinner, sponsored by the university. The day was topped off by a special cake to celebrate the birthday of one of our very own campers, Matt - definitely a 23rd birthday to remember!

Here are some photos from the day, with more great shots and videos on the Facebook page in the “PALS Princeton 2013 - Life’s A Beach!” album.

PALS Princeton takes advantage of a rainy day

The rainy downpour did little to dampen the spirits of campers and counselors on Day 1 of PALS Princeton. Campers started the morning with some aerobics, yoga and kickball, with basketball and swimming following shortly after lunch. The day ended with a Top Chef competition and a special screening of the movie Up.

Check out some of the photos of the action below, and be sure to visit the PALS Facebook page and the album “PALS Princeton 2013 - Making It Rain” to see more photos and videos of the day!

PALS Princeton has officially begun!

The moment we have all been waiting for has finally arrived! Campers and their families arrived on campus in the early afternoon and were greeted by a host of excited counselors. After a few sports games, dance-offs and dinner, the crew made its way around the university to unwind the first day with some delicious frozen yogurt.

Be sure to check out the PALS Facebook page and visit “PALS Princeton 2013 - Camper Arrival” for many more photos and videos from the day!

We're so excited to see everyone tomorrow!

With camper arrival less than 24 hours away, counselors at Camp PALS Princeton have been hard at work getting everything ready for a fantastic week ahead. From icebreakers, a tour of the university, a trip to Wal-mart, decorating hallways and a relaxing barbecue, below are some of our favorite shots of camp preparations from the past day - consider this a sneak preview of what’s yet to come!

PALS is taking over DC at the Annual National Down Syndrome Congress! We are sharing the PALS opportunities with thousands of families at our exhibit booth and spreading our message through a PALS video being played before plenary sessions. We hung out in style tonight with over 80 members of the PALS family at Buca di Beppo in DuPont Circle — our biggest reunion ever!

Wishing you were all here with us!

Monday in San Fran

We started Monday by heading to the San Fransisco Zoo, where Hiren and John especially enjoyed the monkeys and koalas.

We had a picnic with a view of the Golden Gate Bridge. Ryan was mesmerized by the foggy scenic drive across the bridge afterwards.

We also stopped at Ghirardelli Square for ice cream sundaes, and Joe devoured his dessert.

We sat outside by the fountain, and some of us even made a wish - to come back to Camp PALS next year. Cody and Whitney enjoyed watching the “Call me Maybe” flashmob CP West started on the Square.

The cable cars were next, and we all fit in one (barely). Jason and Grace held on tight as we cruised up and down the hilly streets.

We finished our day with karaoke! Dedications went out and rap beats were made. And Olivia serenaded the crowd with a beautiful solo.
