This week: Buddy Walk on Washington

Many of you are aware that the Buddy Walk on Washington is coming up this Wednesday and Thursday (February 29–March 1). This annual event is a critical way to push for legislation affecting the entire Down syndrome community. Here’s a quick summary of this year’s goals:

– Gain sponsors for the Achieving a Better Life Experience (ABLE) Act, summarized here. (Current Senate and House sponsors can be found here and here.)

– Increase NIH funding for Down syndrome research by supporting the Trisomy 21 Research Resource Act, summarized here. (Current sponsors can be found here and here.)

– Ask your representatives in the House to join the Congressional Down Syndrome Caucus (current members are listed here).

You can find information about the event on the NDSS website, or if you’d like to know more about how you can get involved, email Josh Stein at josh@camppals.org.
