Supporting the mission of PALS through events: Julie Carrier

April is National Volunteer Month and we are sharing stories from PALS volunteers to thank and celebrate our community! PALS volunteers have continued to show their dedication to PALS by sharing their time and talents, not only during a week at camp, but throughout the entire year. Recently, Julie Carrier did just that by hosting a walk at her school, Endicott College, in Massachusetts.

Through her 3.21 walk supporting PALS, she raised $1,000 and recruited four volunteers to attend camp this summer! This event was a huge success as college students walked across campus with their PALS swag on.

Here’s what Julie has to share about her experience as a volunteer at PALS and the event:

I first volunteered for PALS in 2019 and instantly fell in love. It was such an amazing supportive community that I always wanted to be a part of. Since then, my love for PALS has only grown and expanded. I decided to take on a bigger role in the organization this summer by being a Team Lead in Boston. Not only did I want to be able to help out at camp itself but I also wanted to help as many people as possible get to camp and the best way to do that is to raise funds and awareness. To do this, I decided to host a walk on my college’s campus. On Sunday, April 2nd around 50 people gathered to walk across campus proudly wearing PALS t-shirts. After the walk, we gathered for lunch where I played the Summer 2022 Recap Video and discussed all the wonderful goals of this organization. I am so excited to share that I was able to raise $1,000! This $1,000 will allow more individuals to experience the PALS magic this Summer. PALS has given me such an incredible community and being able to give back to them has been such a special experience. Thank you to everyone who made the walk possible and to everyone who makes PALS possible.

Thank you to Julie for supporting PALS through her personal fundraising page and sharing about our programs with her community! The impact of just one individual in the PALS Community makes a huge difference for the organization, and we can’t wait to hear more stories like these leading up to Summer 2023!
